Seiryu Stone
Seiryu Stone is one of the most iconic and sought-after aquascaping stones in the hobby. Famous for its use in Nature Aquarium layouts and traditional Iwagumi aquascapes, Seiryu features dramatic ridges, deep fissures and a striking blue-grey colour that creates a powerful, natural-looking underwater landscape.
Its rugged texture and angular appearance make it ideal for creating mountain ranges, rocky valleys and detailed hardscape layouts. Whether you’re building a minimalist Iwagumi aquascape or combining stone with wood and plants, Seiryu Stone provides exceptional depth and character.
Each piece is completely unique, with its own shape, texture and contours, allowing you to create a truly one-of-a-kind aquascape.
Water Parameters
Seiryu Stone contains naturally occurring minerals and may gradually increase KH (carbonate hardness), GH (general hardness) and pH over time. In most planted aquariums this effect is relatively small, but it should be considered if you keep soft-water species or require very low pH conditions.
Aquascaping Uses
- Perfect for Iwagumi-style layouts
- Creates realistic mountain and cliff formations
- Excellent focal stone for Nature Aquarium designs
- Provides attachment points for mosses and epiphytic plants such as Anubias and Bucephalandra
- Creates natural shelter for shrimp and fish
How Much Will I Need?
The amount required depends on the style of aquascape and the size of stones used, but as a general guide:
- 30L aquarium: 5-8kg
- 60L aquarium: 8-15kg
- 90L aquarium: 15-25kg
- 120L aquarium: 20-35kg
For dramatic Iwagumi layouts, many aquascapers use the higher end of these ranges.
